Here’s a list of legal weed dispensaries open in NY

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — There are three legal weed dispensaries open across New York State, and another set to open next week.

Currently, there are two open dispensaries in New York City and one upstate:

  • Just Breathe, located at 75 Court St. in Binghamton, just opened on Friday, Feb. 10.
  • Housing Works Cannabis Co., located at 750 Broadway, opened just before the New Year, in Manhattan’s East Village.
  • Smacked LLC is located at 144 Bleecker St. in Greenwich Village.

New York City’s third legal recreational marijuana dispensary will open its doors next week, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced Friday. The shop, called Union Square Travel Agency: A Cannabis Store, will open Monday at 60 East 13th Street between Broadway and University Place in Manhattan, according to the governor’s office.

MORE ABOUT OPEN DISPENSARIES

Just Breathe was the first legal adult-use recreational weed dispensary to open outside of New York City, the Staten Island Advance/SILive reported, aside from dispensaries associated with sovereign Indian nations.

The dispensary is prepared to sell a variety of cannabis products.

Housing Works Cannabis Co. was the first dispensary to open since the Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act was passed and signed into law by former Gov. Andrew Cuomo in March 2021, the Advance reported.

Smacked LLC is the first dispensary to be owned by a previously justice-involved individual who was awarded a Conditional Adult-Use Retail Dispensary (CAURD) license, and opened on Jan. 24.

This store openings have helped to advance New York’s goals of equity in cannabis licensing, which prioritizes providing licenses to justice-involved individuals, who are people with a cannabis conviction or a close relative of someone with one, the state said.

In addition to these legal weed dispensaries, there are medical marijuana dispensaries open throughout New York. However, a prescription is needed to purchase from those locations.

In late January, New York’s Cannabis Control Board approved an additional 30 retail dispensary licenses, bringing the total number of licensed retailers across the state to 66.
