‘Absolute last chance’ for man who breached restraining order in Rhyl

Guy Billington, 33, of Lodge Farm, Bodfari, admitted to the following offences:

  • Sending Hannah Roberts a Facebook message in September 2022, thus breaching the order imposed in August 2020.
  • Phoning and approaching Roberts in Rhyl on September 6, 2022, also breaching the same order.
  • Resisting PC Stevens on September 6, 2022.
  • Driving a Nissan vehicle on Faenol Avenue, Abergele on July 19, 2022 with 4.4 micrograms per litre of blood of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC – the cannabinoid molecule in marijuana), and 92 micrograms per litre of blood of Benzoylecgonine (BZE, a cocaine breakdown product).

At Llandudno Magistrates’ Court today (March 1), Billington was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment, suspended for 18 months.

Billington, a tree surgeon, was said to have been in contact with Roberts primarily about their daughter and his stepson.

In a statement, Roberts admitted she had still been speaking to Billington, despite the imposition of the restraining order.

For instance, she replied to a Facebook post about him being in another relationship by saying she had “been mugged off”, and telling Bellington that he could not see the children.

Billington was said to have turned up at the children’s school in order to see them.

Magistrates also ordered him to complete a “Building Better Relationships” programme, as well as 20 days’ rehabilitation activity.

He was disqualified from driving for 12 months.

Costs to the Crown Prosecution Service of £170, and a £187 surcharge, were also issued to him.

Billington was told that he was “on the cusp of custody”, and that this was his “absolute last chance” to avoid prison.
