The cannabis plant produces 80 to 100 different types of cannabinoids.
People typically use cannabinoids for medical and recreational use. Before you use cannabinoids of any kind, it’s important that you know more about them. If you’re interested in learning about the different types, you’ve come to the right place.
We are going to tell you everything you need to know about cannabinoid types and how you can benefit from them. Continue reading to learn more!
What are Cannabinoids?
The body and brain have cannabinoid receptors, and cannabinoids are a class of chemical compounds that react with these receptors. These compounds affect our endocannabinoid system (ECS). This system keeps up balanced and is throughout the entire body, in the muscles, nerves, and brain.
The two most common types of cannabinoids are THC and CBD, which we will talk more about later. They are found naturally in the marijuana plant and when we introduce them to our bodies, our system becomes out of balance. Every person has a unique experience because everyone’s body is different.
Researchers are still doing a lot of work to find out which cannabinoids can be used for different medical conditions. There’s still a lot of research to be done, but we already know that some cannabinoids can be very beneficial.
As mentioned before, THC is one of the most well-known and popular types of cannabinoids. It typically has a calming, psychotropic, and euphoric effect on people.
It’s been known to help with pain relief and is often used to help those with terminal or chronic illnesses. It’s typically used as concentrates and edibles.
It’s a common belief that smoking is harmful to the lungs. However, smoking THC isn’t as dangerous as a cigarette. It can be harmful long term, so consider using edibles more than often smoking.
Besides lung damage, you may experience immediate side effects. This can include headaches, light-headedness, dizziness, dry eyes, and mouth. THC can affect your judgment and your motion skills, so you’re crucial that you don’t drive after you’ve consumed THC in any form.
CBD is often used as an anti-seizure medication. It’s found in marijuana plants but it doesn’t contain THC, so you won’t get the “high” feeling.
CBD is usually in the form of oil, extract, and vaporized liquid. It comes in a variety of different products, including beverages, food, and beauty products.
It’s important to know that there are some side effects that you may experience when you’re using THC products. The majority of people don’t have any issues, but you could experience dry mouth, diarrhea, reduced appetite, and drowsiness.
When you’re choosing CBD products, it’s important that you do your research. Some companies are unreliable and don’t use pure CBD, and you want to avoid a scam if possible.
Unlike THC, CBC will not give you a “high.” It’s powerful, but it’s a non-psychoactive cannabinoid. CBC activates the CB2 receptors which help control and reduce inflammation.
It is often paired with THC and CBD to enhance its healing effects. CBC cannabinoid is used to help relieve pain and symptoms of neuropathy, chronic post-operative pain, Crohn’s disease, and irritable bowel syndrome.
CBC is sometimes used to help reduce depression, but there’s not much scientific proof at this time. It can help improve your mood without as many side effects as THC.
This form of cannabinoid has become more well-known. Unlike other types of cannabinoids, CBG can aid in reduced appetite.
Chemotherapy can cause a loss in appetite and many patients use CBG to help. Those who struggle with other eating problems and disorders may find this strand to be beneficial as well.
Besides increasing one’s appetite, it has also been shown to increase fight-cancer cells. This type of cannabinoid also helps fight infections in the body and reduce irritations. If you have arthritis, you may find pain relief while using CBG.
CBN is known to be a less version of THC. It’s less effective, making it milder. You can have a psychoactive reaction if you can consume a large amount.
This form of cannabinoid is a great option if you have trouble sleeping. It’s been known to help people fall asleep fast and stay asleep for longer.
Since CBN isn’t as well-known as some of the other types, it can be hard to find. However, it comes in tea bags, capsules, oils, and disposable vape pens. There haven’t been a lot of studies on CBN, so the side effects, short-term and long-term are still unknown.
Cannabuichromene Acid (CBDA)
CBDA is similar to CBD. It has medical benefits, including reducing anxiety and inflammation. It won’t cause you to become intoxicated. CBDA can help reduce seizures and reduce tumors.
Often times patients will get nausea before or after chemotherapy and many use CBDA to reduce the symptom. It’s primary in the same ways CBD is used.
Types of Cannabinoids
Now that you know about the different types of cannabinoids, you can start benefiting from them. No matter what your reasons for using them, it’s important that you do your research.
Your health is the most important thing and the more you know, the safer you are. Keep in mind, everyone’s body is different, so you may not react the same as someone else.
